Specialist, Reforming the decision-making

Who? 

Markku works as a Specialist in the Reforming the decision-making team of Sitra’s Democracy and participation theme. He works with tasks regarding the improvement of civic engagement and transparency as well as the development of good decision-making. Through research, development and interaction – as society-wide co-operation is the key in this work.

What? 

You should contact Markku in all matters concerning civic engagement, democracy development and decision-making improvement. Markku has years of experience in working as a researcher and teacher in political science at the University of Helsinki. Markku worked as a government official in the Ministry of Education and Culture, Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Transport and Communications for ten years. He also spent five years as a consultant.

Markku has a PhD in social sciences. His key strengths are in the field of democracy, political decision-making as well as public governance development and evaluation.

What else? 

Markku likes to spend his free time with his family at home or at their summer cottage. His hobbies include music, playing instruments, cycling, reading and writing.
